Creative Fellowship

With the creative pipeline being fed from similar elite universities, the industry has created a loop of talent and a largely homogeneous workplace. This is why we're looking outside the typical networks to find our creative team.

We’re inviting a group of emerging creative talent from a variety of creative disciplines — writing, art direction, filmmaking, UX, visual design — to come work with Google's creative teams for one year. Each participant receives hands-on experience with key program initiatives, individual mentorship, networking opportunities and Fellowship-specific events and speakers.

The Creative Fellowship ushers in a new, diverse generation of talent – and enables the industry at large to benefit from fresh, innovative perspectives through the years to come.

Application submission for the 2021 Creative Fellowship will be available in September. We look forward to hearing from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Creative Fellowship?

The Creative Fellowship is a global, year-long apprenticeship program for emerging creative talent that offers ongoing mentorship, helpful networking opportunities and hands-on experience across Google’s various in-house creative teams.

What does the program entail?

Along with meaningful mentorship and networking opportunities, each participant will have a bespoke experience dependent upon their unique creative skillset and creative team. Our creative teams vary in size, discipline and department, therefore our Fellowship roles vary as well. From designers to copywriters, from Brand Studio to Material Design, check out our website to see the diverse set of opportunities available across the globe.

Will the program be remote?

Yes, the program is designed to be fully remote. Laptops and wifi reimbursement will be provided. If and when, it’s safe to return back to the offices, we’ll revisit our program’s plans. As of now, everything will be held over Google Meet.

Who should apply?

The program is for emerging creative thinkers who have a passion for making things and telling stories. We're looking for individuals excited to bring their voice and craft to Google's creative teams. Each creative team is looking for something different so we encourage you to apply as you are with work that best captures your craft.

Applicants need to have work authorization in the country selected on the application and be available to start in January 2021.

Do I need a portfolio or a formal education in the arts?

Nope. Show us what you can do, in the way you do it best. We want to see your unique perspective, however that best comes to life. If you happen to have one, though, we'd love to see it.

What kind of projects will I be working on?

It depends. Each Fellow will be placed on a Google creative team and work on real projects under that team’s guidance. The 2019 class of fellows worked on things like Most Searched, Find Your Scene and pretty much everything over at along with so much more.

Is this an internship?

No. This apprenticeship is a year-long, paid contractor role; managed by a third party we trust.

If I have a disability, am I eligible for the Fellowship?

Absolutely. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t hesitate to let us know, we are more than happy to accommodate. Simply email us here (ADD ALIAS - TBD).

What are the important dates?

The program will run from January 2021 - December 2021. Applications are due by October 28, 2020 and we will extend offers by early-December 2020.
