Creative Fellowship
The Rare Creative Fellowship is a program for emerging creative talent that offers hands-on experience and exposure across Google’s various in-house creative teams.
The creative industry’s long-standing traditions and conventional standards can often create a talent loop that is systematically inaccessible to many new voices and emerging talent. In particular, for creatives from non-traditional backgrounds, it can feel disproportionately difficult to gain access to the support they need to thrive in this industry. That is why we’re looking outside typical networks to find exceptional talent to join us.
The Rare Creative Fellowship places emerging talent on dedicated teams, gaining exposure and hands-on experience across Google’s various in-house creative departments. In tandem, participants are also invited to inspiring talks to enrich their experience.
This program ushers in a new, diverse network of creative talent and benefits the industry at large by bringing in fresh, innovative perspectives.

FAQs
What is the Rare Creative Fellowship?
The Rare Creative Fellowship is a program for emerging creative talent that offers on-going mentorship, helpful networking opportunities and hands-on experience across Google’s various in-house creative teams.
What does the program entail?
Along with valuable work experience, the program includes an orientation, Fellowship project, on-going inspirational talks and a built-in community to support you along the way.
Who should apply?
The program is for emerging creative thinkers (0 - 5 years of creative experience) who have a clear point of view and passion for making things and telling stories. We’re looking for individuals excited to bring their unique voice and craft to Google’s creative teams. Each creative team at Google is looking for something different, so we encourage creatives to apply with work that best captures their craft.
Where is the Fellowship located this year?
This year we will have creative roles in the United States–across our offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and New York. Locations within the United States are specified by teams and listed on the individual job descriptions. Fellows need to be located and have work authorization in the United States and be available to work full-time starting July 2023.
Is this program remote?
No. We want our Fellows to get the most out of this program and believe that being in the office, working alongside our teams enriches the experience for everyone. Although it will vary from team to team, it’s safe to assume you’ll be expected to be in the office at least 3 times per week (however, lunch and a lot of free snacks will be provided).
What kind of projects will I be working on?
The Rare Creative Fellowship experience differs between participants. Each Fellow will be placed on a Google creative team and work on real projects under that team’s guidance.
Is this an internship?
No. This is a six-month, contractor role where candidates will be employed as freelancers via one of Google’s staffing partners.
Is the Fellowship paid?
Yes. Pay is determined by location and will be shared during the interview process.
What are the important dates?
The program will run from July 2023 to December 2023. Expressions of interest are due by April 27, 5pm (PST). We will inform shortlisted candidates of their advancement by mid May and a 3rd party employment agency will contact finalist candidates for next steps in early June.
